Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) celebrates International Mother Language Day(IMLD) recently on Tuesday, 21 February 2017. International Mother Language Day (IMLD) is a worldwide annual observance held on 21 February to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.

The program was organized by MEDIU’s Bangladeshi Student Association led by Brother Jubayed Uddin in the presence of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Daud Abdul Quadir Elega; Dean Faculty of Language, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yousef Abu Baker El-Ebiary; Dean of Student Affairs, Mr.Syed Mahbubul Alam Al-Hasani; Students Affairs Division officer and Mr. Ahmad Syazwan bin Zainal Ariffin; SRC President.

A short introduction of IMLD was delivered by Brother SK Ahmmad Fahad stating the International Mother Language Day(IMLD) celebrated on 21st February annualy to commemorate the four univeristy’s students who were killed during the Bengali Language Movement demonstrations of 1952 in then East Pakistan. IMLD was proclaimed by the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on 17 November 1999 and was formally recognized by the United Nations General Assembly in its resolution establishing 2008 as the International Year of Languages.

This was followed by delivering the Bangladesh national anthem by a group of students, poem recitation by Brother Alamgir Hossain and prayer recitation for the martyred students by Brother Abubakar Gali.

An orientation day to welcome the new students for the September 2017 intake was held on Tuesday, 14 February 2017. A total of fifteen (15) Malaysian students enrolled for the university’s program mostly in Foundation in Arabic Languages and Islamic Studies, Bachelor of Languages (Hons) in Arabic Language & Literature and Bachelor of Islamic Sciences. The orientation program is collaborated under the Students Affairs Division led by Dean of Students Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Yousef Abu Baker El-Ebiary and Mr. Abdoulaye Mahamat Zakariya Deputy Dean of Student Affairs Division along with the orientation committee namely Mr. Syed Mahbubul Alam Al-Hasani and Mrs. Atiqah Shakirah binti Shauki.

The orientation program begins with a brief introduction of the university by Mr. Mohd Shahrin Ab Rahman, Head of Marketing. Followed by an opening speech by MEDIU’s Deputy CEO of Research and Development Division, Assoc. Prof. Dr. AB Rahim Ismail in welcoming the new students by giving a welcome remarks and encouraging words to the students. A brief word from a representative of Student Services Department, Mr. Syed Mahbubul Alam Al-Hasani through words of encouragement to the new students to always stay positive throughout their studies in MEDIU and state that the Student Affairs Division will always assist their best to serve and meet the needs of the students.

The orientation session continues with briefing session on academic, student portal and Advanced Learning & i-Management system(ALIM) presented by Mr. Muhammad Arsyad Aslam Bin Mohammad Ali; examination, records and credit transfer matters by Mr. Syazwan Khalis, briefing on financial matters by Mr. Ahmed Ali Nour, PTPTN and MARA study loan by Mrs. Nor Suhaza Mohmad Shah and a session on MEDIU’s digital library by Mr. Hakkar Fouzi.

Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) recenty held a scientific symposium organized by the Faculty of Islamic Sciences (FIS) on Thursday, 12 January 2017. The session was held to evaluate the postgraduate’s students research or the session of September 2016/2017 with the participation by the faculty’s member and students.

The program was officiated by Deputy Dean of Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Asst. Prof.Dr. Yasser Mohamed Tarshany, moderated by was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr Yousef Mohammed Abdo, Head of the Quran and its Sciences Department; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Umar Aliyu Abubakar, Head of Islamic Jurisprudence Department. During the session, the members of the faculty have given some advices to the students on their research and scientific methodology learning.

The Faculty of Computer and Information Technology (FCIT) recently held a ceremony to honor the best students project presentation for the semester 2016 for he program of Bachelor of Information Technology in System Development and Administration and Bachelor of Information Technology in Management Information Systems. The program was held on Tuesday,17 January 2017 was led by Faculty’s Dean; Asst. Prof. Dr. Wael Mohamed Shaher Yafooz, Head of Department of IT, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mamoun Mohamad Jamous and Dean of Student Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Yousef Abu Baker El-Ebiary in the presence of the faculty’s members and students.

Among the best project presentation were on Sticky Note Android Application, Azkar Mobile Application and Online Bus Reservation System.

At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Wael and Dr. Mamoun gave several tips for the faculty’s students on their choices of projectsfor the coming semesters and the importance of developing their skills in identifying new technology areas.

MEDIU organized a gathering to present on the achievements for the 4th Quarter of 2016 on Friday, 13 January 2017. The gathering was presented to all MEDIU’s employees in the presence of MEDIU’s CEO; Prof. Dr. Mohammad Khalifa Al-Tamimi accompanied by the University’s management. MEDIU’s CEO stressed up how the teamwork plays an important role to success. He also urged the staff to perform and expressed his acknowledgement to those who are dedicated in ensuring all the objectives achieved.

The University managed to achieved 87.90% for the fourth quarter of 2016. While the percentage of late objectives is 1.78%, suspended 1.53%, carried forward is 7.52% and remaining 1.27% objectives were dropped. In order to increase the working spirit and appreciate the effort of the staff, MEDIU rewarded the best staff who achieved their targets and accomplished their tasks as well as raising the level of quality and efficiency.

MEDIU’s Marketing Department recently conducts a ‘Marketing Coaching’ for the students who wish to become an Introducer. The initiative of the program is to ensure the student gains knowledge on the accurate ways to approach potential student as well as sharing session on marketing tools in students recruitment.

The two days program was held recently on 12-13 January 2017, focusing on the students recruitment of February 2017 intake, with exchange of knowledge and ideas in approaching potential students. The coaching session was led by Head of Marketing Department, Mr. Mohd Shahrin Ab Rahman and assisted by Marketing representatives namely Mr. Azzam Ehsan Abduljalil Abdulrazzaq, Mr. Aymen Ayub Ibrahim,  Mrs. Faridah Baharun and Miss Nor Hanim Binti Khalil.

The aim of the session is to motivate and encourage the student to introduce potential students to enrol to the university. The University has started the ‘Student Bring Student Program’ since 2014 and has been well received with1,582 students enrolled with 1,316 students are still active. The introducer will received an incentive award with enables them to pay for their tuition fees.

Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) recently celebrate cultural events ‘World Day Arabic Language which falls on December 18th annually and were organized by the Faculty of Language and Centre of Languages on Tuesday, 27 December 2016 under the auspices of Honorable CEO, Prof.Dr.Mohammad Khalifa Al-Tamimi. The event was attended by lecturers and students from the respective faculty. The program plays the role of the university in promoting Arabic as the main language of communication between the students and lecturers.

The event begins with recitation verses of Al-Quran and a short lecture on the role and importance of Arabic language was presented by Dr. Ahmed Muhamed Wafiq Othman. He also briefed on the background of the World Day of Arabic Language celebration. Dean, Faculty of Languages; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Daud Quadir Elega also gave a speech on the importance and beauty of the Arabic language and MEDIU’s role and contribution in spreading the Arabic language medium through its modern techniques learning process.

Among the main objectives of the event is to show the role of university in upholding interest issues related to Arabic language, to discuss the role and impact of the language in the present and the future as well as defining the roles of Arabic languages among other national languages around the world. With such event, it is hope that the Arabic languages can be uphold as a universal language adopted by the global community and hope all levels of society can fully support the deployment and development of the use of Arabic language as a whole.

MEDIU’s Research and Development (R&D) Division under the Dean of Scientific Research, Dr. Ammar Abdulwahab recently organized a training session on Writing Islamic Studies Papers for Publication in International Journals ISI/SCOPUS/ERA  on Friday, 30 December 2016. The session was presented by Prof.Dr. Waleed Fekry Faris, Director Centre for Muslim World Affairs of International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and participated by postgraduate students from the Faculty of Islamic Sciences and Faculty of Languages.

The objectives of the workshop are to help the participants in preparing their articles for journal publication, to share effective strategies and techniques in writing a journal article as well as to assist the participants in publishing their article in ISI/Scopus/ERA indexed journals especially in the Islamic studies and Arabic languages field.

MEDIU’s Faculty of Engineering recently held a workshop session on “Safety Management Systems Framework– Going Beyond Compliance” on Thursday, 15 December 2016. The session was in collaboration with Proton Holdings Berhad and was delivered by Madam Norwani Ahmat. Head of Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Department of Proton Holdings.

The workshop discussed various topics of Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) and how to plan and create a comprehensive safety management system framework in a workplace. The session was attended by the university’s academician and students in the presence of Faculty’s Dean, Prof. Ir. Dr. Wan Mahmood Wan Ab. Majid  and Deputy Dean, Mr. Yousef Ali Mohammed Al-Gumaei.

The Faculty of Computer and Information Technology recently held a one day workshop session on ‘Computer Programming Using Java Language’ on Saturday, 10 December 2016. The workshop was presented by Faculty’s Dean, Asst. Prof. Dr. Wael Mohamed Shaher Yafooz and Asst. Prof. Dr. Mamoun Mohamad Jamous.

The workshop aims to develop programming skills and give students the proper ways to solve problems by using the software, including theoretical and practical side. The students were introduced to the history of Java language and the importance of learning the programming language and its differences,

The Faculty of Computer and Information Technology established various workshops to occupied the students with various software and research skills which able to facilitates their educational process.
