Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) celebrates International Mother Language Day(IMLD) recently on Tuesday, 21 February 2017. International Mother Language Day (IMLD) is a worldwide annual observance held on 21 February to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.

The program was organized by MEDIU’s Bangladeshi Student Association led by Brother Jubayed Uddin in the presence of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Daud Abdul Quadir Elega; Dean Faculty of Language, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yousef Abu Baker El-Ebiary; Dean of Student Affairs, Mr.Syed Mahbubul Alam Al-Hasani; Students Affairs Division officer and Mr. Ahmad Syazwan bin Zainal Ariffin; SRC President.

A short introduction of IMLD was delivered by Brother SK Ahmmad Fahad stating the International Mother Language Day(IMLD) celebrated on 21st February annualy to commemorate the four univeristy’s students who were killed during the Bengali Language Movement demonstrations of 1952 in then East Pakistan. IMLD was proclaimed by the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on 17 November 1999 and was formally recognized by the United Nations General Assembly in its resolution establishing 2008 as the International Year of Languages.

This was followed by delivering the Bangladesh national anthem by a group of students, poem recitation by Brother Alamgir Hossain and prayer recitation for the martyred students by Brother Abubakar Gali.

An orientation day to welcome the new students for the September 2017 intake was held on Tuesday, 14 February 2017. A total of fifteen (15) Malaysian students enrolled for the university’s program mostly in Foundation in Arabic Languages and Islamic Studies, Bachelor of Languages (Hons) in Arabic Language & Literature and Bachelor of Islamic Sciences. The orientation program is collaborated under the Students Affairs Division led by Dean of Students Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Yousef Abu Baker El-Ebiary and Mr. Abdoulaye Mahamat Zakariya Deputy Dean of Student Affairs Division along with the orientation committee namely Mr. Syed Mahbubul Alam Al-Hasani and Mrs. Atiqah Shakirah binti Shauki.

The orientation program begins with a brief introduction of the university by Mr. Mohd Shahrin Ab Rahman, Head of Marketing. Followed by an opening speech by MEDIU’s Deputy CEO of Research and Development Division, Assoc. Prof. Dr. AB Rahim Ismail in welcoming the new students by giving a welcome remarks and encouraging words to the students. A brief word from a representative of Student Services Department, Mr. Syed Mahbubul Alam Al-Hasani through words of encouragement to the new students to always stay positive throughout their studies in MEDIU and state that the Student Affairs Division will always assist their best to serve and meet the needs of the students.

The orientation session continues with briefing session on academic, student portal and Advanced Learning & i-Management system(ALIM) presented by Mr. Muhammad Arsyad Aslam Bin Mohammad Ali; examination, records and credit transfer matters by Mr. Syazwan Khalis, briefing on financial matters by Mr. Ahmed Ali Nour, PTPTN and MARA study loan by Mrs. Nor Suhaza Mohmad Shah and a session on MEDIU’s digital library by Mr. Hakkar Fouzi.

MEDIU recently received full accredited status for Master programs in the Faculty of Education and Faculty of Finance and Administrative Sciences, with a total of 73 programs has received full accreditation status while 45 programs is at provisional status out of 118 academic programs approved by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

Accredited programs contributes higher opportunities for university’s graduates especially to local graduates for employment in the public sector in particular as well as benefits the University’s towards international recognition. Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) participated in the National Higher Education Carnival which was held recently at AEON Kota Bharu, Kelantan on 11-12 February 2017. The first zone of ‘Karnival Jom Masuk IPT’ 2017 carnival was officiated by Dato’ Seri Haji Idris bin Jusoh, Minister of Higher Education. The education carnival was organized by the Department of Higher Education and the tagline ‘Karnival Jom Masuk IPT’ is used to motivate the school leavers to obtain accurate and timely information on various educational opportunities in Malaysia.

Through the 2 days events at the East Zone (Kelantan), MEDIU were represented by Marketing Executives; Mr. Aymen Ayub Ibrahim, Miss Nor Hanim Binti Khalil and assisted by Corporate Services officer, Miss Nur Hamizah Binti Ibrahim. They have taken the opportunity as a platform to market MEDIU’s academic programs to the prospective students in person as well as to create awareness to the public on the admission and registration requirements. The exhibition help school leavers in the east coast states of Malaysia; namely Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang to obtain more information on MEDIU and able to communicate directly with the university’s marketing officers if they are keen and interested to know the programs offer by the university.

The education exhibition is aimed at promoting and disseminating information on opportunities for higher education especially for the high school leavers holding the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), Malaysian Higher School Certificate (STPM) or equivalent. School leavers and potential students are encouraged to bring their latest results to seek advices from the representatives upfront.

MQA establish and maintain a national register known as the Malaysian Qualifications Register (MQR); containing programmes, qualifications and higher education providers accredited programs. In implementing and realizing the mission of the University in terms of achieving scientific and educational aspects as well as to gained recognition in quality assurance; the University has to go through a strategic plan towards being a leading university. With the grace of God Al-Mighty; Webometrics (http://www.webometrics.info/en/Asia/Malaysia%20) has released the first half results for 2017 that shows MEDIU earning its 10th place in the Malaysia’s private university level and 30th for the overall Universities in Malaysia.

  • Ranked 125th place in the category of Arabic and Islamic universities; out of 987 universities.

Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) recenty held a scientific symposium organized by the Faculty of Islamic Sciences (FIS) on Thursday, 12 January 2017. The session was held to evaluate the postgraduate’s students research or the session of September 2016/2017 with the participation by the faculty’s member and students.

The program was officiated by Deputy Dean of Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Asst. Prof.Dr. Yasser Mohamed Tarshany, moderated by was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr Yousef Mohammed Abdo, Head of the Quran and its Sciences Department; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Umar Aliyu Abubakar, Head of Islamic Jurisprudence Department. During the session, the members of the faculty have given some advices to the students on their research and scientific methodology learning.

Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) has got through the classification results of according to the Australian Classification of Universities and International Institutes (4ICUs) for the first half of 2017 with the results of 5th place in the category of private Malaysian universities, 20th place in the Malaysian universities in general, remains its 8th place within Selangor’s universities and 3,979th place for worldwide universities.

The Australian Classification of Universities and International Institutes(4ICUs) is a world ranking classification as the University’s websites is measured by the recognition or accreditation received from international organizations and institutions. The classification is being acknowledged for every six months period; and the data is updated for all the universities and colleges that participates; with a total of 12,358 universities and colleges from 200 countries are categorized according to the recognition of its website.

The classification is based on three independent and objective measures at web, derived from three research engines:

  • Google page ranking
  • Alexa traffic ranking
  • MEDIU website classification for other external sites (Majestic SEO)

Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) received an honored, Executive Director/Board Member of Dar Al Ber Society, Mr. Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi on Tuesday, 24 January 2017. The honored visitor was welcomed by MEDIU’s Honorable CEO; Prof. Dr. Mohammad Khalifa Al-Tamimi in his office and expressed his delight for the visit, which comes within the framework of cooperation between the university and international charity organization.

The honored visitor expressed his gladness of visiting MEDIU to view closely on the modern technology in support to the e-learning process as well as to seek potential collaboration to revive the welfare programs and contribute to social and community support activities.

At the end of the visit, Mr. Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi stated in the guestbook, “In the name of Allah the Merciful, I had the opportunity to visit Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) and view CEO’s sharing the aspirations in developing this institution. I ask God Almighty to guide them in all their endeavours in the world of education.”
